An Ohio native, Dr. Jordan Vitt completed both his undergraduate and veterinary degrees at The Ohio State University in Columbus. After graduation, he completed a small animal rotating internship in medicine and surgery at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia in 2012. After internship, he worked as an emergency clinician in private practice for one year in Columbus, Ohio. He then completed a three year cardiology residency at Texas A&M University in College Station in 2016 and obtained his Diplomate status in the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM) in Cardiology in 2016.
After residency, Dr. Vitt pursued a full-time career in academia and was a faculty cardiologist at University of Illinois until 2019. In 2018, he founded Heart of Veterinary Cardiology (HOVC). As the Chief Executive Officer of HOVC, Dr. Vitt is the primary clinical practitioner and provides clinical veterinary cardiology services, continuing education, resident training, contract research, and echocardiography training at hospitals and universities around the world.
As a cardiologist, Dr. Vitt enjoys traveling the world to help advance the field of veterinary cardiology. He has served on the ACVIM Cardiology Examination committee to develop the certification exam required for cardiologist diplomate status, provided continuing education lectures around the world, and published several peer-reviewed articles in veterinary cardiology. He enjoys interventional cardiology, teaching, advanced cardiac imaging, and continued involvement in research. Throughout his diverse experiences he feels the most fortunate for opportunities to collaborate with so many clinicians and help so many animals around the world. He loves continual learning and collaboration to provide the most advanced and innovative techniques for the best medicine and care for his patients.
In his spare time, Dr. Vitt enjoys developing his yoga practice, traveling, cooking, and spending time with his partner and their Dalmatians, Pixel and Moira.
